Ancestral Voices--The Letters of the von Rosenberg and Meerscheidt Families 1844-1897, compiled by Charles W. von Rosenberg is a collection of letters written between the two families corresponding back and forth from Germany to America. Had it not been for the preservation of these letters, much less would be known about the daily lives of our pioneer relatives.
"Though some nuances are lost in translation and the poignancy muted across the river of time, the ancestral voices tell .......a tale so sad, so tender and so true."

"Emigration Booklet"                        $6.50

Emigration Letters--Emigration of the von Rosenbergs to Texas, 1849, from the diary of the Pioneer Mother, published in German in Familie Froelich, 1908 and translated by Walter Otto Wupperman, tells of the trip from Memel to Texas, as well as the adventures of arriving in Texas and then settling in to a new way of life.

The English Translation of "Familie Froelich"  $15.00

Familie Froelich was originally published in 1910 by Reinhold Froelich in German. It is a compiled genealogy of the Froelich family going back for several generations. Peter Carl von Rosenberg's first wife, who died at a young age was Johanna Dorothea Froelich and this genealogy, which is compiled of letters and family charts traces her family as well as that of her aunts and uncles.

The von Rosenberg interest in the book comes in a chapter devoted to information about Peter Carl as Johanna's first husband and then his second wife Amanda Fallier, who writes detailed letters to her friends and relatives who stayed behind when the Peter Carl and Amanda, their children and the children of his first marriage all leave Memel for Texas. These letters were translated into English and later became known as the Immigration Letters and sold to family members.

It wasn't until 2005 that the Familie Froelich book was translated in its' entirety by Laura Wingo, a descendant of Peter Carl and retired German teacher. Now the entire book including the letters is in English. The only portion of the book that was not translated by Laura are the large fold-out genealogical charts showing the lineage of the people mentioned in the book. These are in the process of being put into a database by the Historian of the von Rosenberg family. They are very delicate reproduction has almost been impossible. A copy of each chart was made at one time and framed under glass. There are about 10 of them. These framed copies were donated to the Fayette Heritage Museum and Archives in La Grange, Texas for archival storage.

Please Contact Bill Wingo at gaattc2001@yahoo.com to purchase "Familie Froelich" rather than going through Forrest.
